ALEKSANDAR MIHAYLOV

My first published photograph appeared in  Sega Daily Newspaper in 1998 when I was 16 years old. From 1998 till now I have been subsequently employed as staff photographer in some of the most influential Bulgarian newspapers and magazines - Sega daily, Sega magazine, Monitor daily,Telegraph daily, Politika Weekly, Love Stile magazine etc. . I have contributed to a number of Bulgarian and international media – the Associated Press, the Sun, AMICA magazine, Playboy magazine, MAX magazine, MAXIM magazine etc.

I have had tree individual international exhibitions, two of which international, and luxury album with over 150 of my photographs featuring the most attractive folk rites in Bulgaria was published in 2008.

Now I express myself also with short films and music videos.

2001 First prize in the political section of the national photojournalism competition `Panorama 2001`

2001 Award from `The Insider` magazine

2002 Best Young Participant Award from the national competition `Photo of the Year - Bulgaria 2002`

2003 one-man `Photojournalism` exhibition at the gallery of the `Photojournalists' Club` in Sofia

2004 I was on the panel of judges at the photojournalist competition `BG press photo 2004`

Between 2000 and 2007, I took part in eight joint exhibitions

2006 I was among the nominated at the national photo competition `Photo of the Year-Bulgaria 2006`

2006 Bulgarian Journalists' Union award - `Photojournalist of the Year`

2007 Launch of my `Traditions` project, with the support of the State Cultural Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - a one-man photo exhibition at the `Akademia` gallery in Sofia. After the Sofia exhibition, the collection became part of the project of the `Travelling Exhibitions` institute and represented Bulgaria within the European Year for Intercultural Dialogue. The pictures visited over 30 cities in Europe, America, Asia and Africa.

2008 Participation in the `Europe in Images` exhibition in `Gispoteca del Vittoriano` hall in Rome

2008 Release of the `Traditions` album – a richly illustrated de luxe collection featuring over 150 photographs, with text in Bulgarian and English

2009 I was among the nominated at the national photo competition `Photo of the Year-Bulgaria 2009`

2010 Аward for excellent performance in BG Press Photo exhibition.

2012 Participation in the International Festival of Contemporary Art "Transformer" in Thessaloniki film "New Harvest"

2013 International photo exhibition "ORTHODOX - the story of the life and spirit of Aton" with the support of the State Cultural Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
2013 Рarticipation in the international Festival of Digital art "042 FEST" in Stara Zagora.
